Suzumiya Haruhi, Phoenix Wright

I liked the deduction scene in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) so much that I added the music from Phoenix Wright to add to the Phoenix Wright feel. Note that I just overlayed the music on top, since I don’t really know how to remove the original music. It works out OK since the original music is so low, though. I also added a few sound effects from the game.

I guess this video might be boring if you don’t know the game. Also, you might not want to watch it if you plan on watching the anime, since it totally spoils the story in episode 8. You’ve been warned!

Wii!

Another year, another E3. People generally agree that Nintendo is the “winner” of the show this year, even though a lot of people were negative to the console name. Personally I don’t really think it’s such a horrible name. Anyway, I won’t talk about Wii much, instead I’ll list up all the games for the Nintendo DS that I look forward to!

Phoenix Wright: Justice For All screenshot

Phoenix Wright: Justice For All
This one is without doubt the game I look most forward to, even though it’s a remake of the second Phoenix Wright (japanese) GBA game. I mentioned earlier that I was trying to play through a Chinese version of this game, but I mostly gave up, and with this game coming out, I guess it won’t be necessary anymore! And I guess it’s quite likely that 3 will also be translated! Joy!

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass screenshot

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
No Nintendo console without a Zelda game! Apparently you control Link using the stylus, and attack by tapping enemies. Kind of like Diablo, then? It also looks like you’ll have to make your own notes in the maps. Seems sweet, in any case! (Oh, and did I already write about the Link paper building set? I already made mine, I’ll post an image later!)

Kirby DS screenshot

Kirby DS
Gotta love Kirby! I hope this game will have lots of different moves for each special ability, like in Kirby Super Star for SNES! Apparently you can also combine items that he eats, to create new items. Maybe also create new powers? Though the power-combinations in Kirby 64 weren’t really that great, it’d still be interesting I guess.

Final Fantasy III screenshot

Final Fantasy III DS
This remake is in 3D! Unlike the remake for 1 and 2, which was more SNES-style. But yeah, looks like it’ll be great! I still haven’t played through the GBA version of FF2… I guess I’ll do that soon.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin screenshot

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Yet another Castlevania game for the DS! I only know that you’ll play two characters roughly at the same time, don’t know much else, though the game is still under development. IGN says it’s possibly the best Castlevania game ever, and I guess I’ll choose to believe them.

Children of mana screenshot

Children of Mana
Seiken Densetsu 3 (or Secret of Mana 3/2, depending on how you look at it) for SNES was a great game, and I believe Children of Mana will be somewhat similar. Though I’ve heard that it’s a quest-based game, where you get quests and then go to different areas to complete them, rather than being a conventional story-based RPG. Also you can play quests with other players using wireless (though no online play).

Hum, I think that should be enough text, so for the rest of the games, I’ll just list the names: Yoshi’s Island 2 (More babies!), Mega Man ZX (Armor customization!), Deep Labyrinth (First person RPG game with stylus spellcasting), Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (Adventure games are always fun), Point Blank DS (Try not to poke a hole in your DS), Nintendo DS Browser (Go Opera!). Also, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Jump Superstars 2 have been mentioned, though with few details.

That being said, I better get a job soon, if I’m to afford all these games. And Wii.

Nothing in particular

Mickey Mouse Photomosaic
Hey, sorry that I haven’t updated in a while. Part of the reason is that I’ve been trying to focus on my Universtiy project, and the other part is that even when I’m not able to focus on it, I spend my time doing other things like games and chatting. Meh. But I’ve mostly been able to stop playing Flyff! Though I still play from time to time…

The image on the right shows the Mickey Mouse Photomosaic puzzle that I helped my brother finish in half the Easter vacation! As you can see a piece is missing… I guess we should try asking the producers to send the missing piece.

Some other stuff I’ve been doing lately:

    An animated sprite I made

  • Tried to start making a new game again. I’ve never really finished any good full games… except SumBlocks. Mostly because I give up while trying to draw graphics, which I’m really not very good at. I made the sprite on the right a few days ago, and it turned out not as bad as I expected, but it’s still not all that good. (I haven’t really thought of a costume design yet, so it’s just a plain sprite.)
  • I went to Oslo in the Easter vacation, and went to the Easter camp in Norway.
  • Played through Grim Fandango, quite a good game I must say, though the controls were slightly frustrating.
  • Kingdom of Loathing

  • Started playing Kingdom of Loathing again. The game is a browser based text RPG game with graphics like the one you see on the right. You get a number of adventure points every day, and you can spend them going on adventures in different areas. Don’t let its childish graphics trick you, this game is not for kids. Mainly because kids wouldn’t get all the geeky jokes and parody references that the game is filled it. Though to be honest, I don’t either.

Hmm, I can’t think of anything else interesting I’ve done since my last update… I guess I don’t need to write a lot every time. I should probably try and remember the more special things and write about those instead. Hah! As if anything special ever happens. Oh well.
